Had my first real Thanksgiving dinner today in....forever.
My sis and I went over to my TA's house (Linda). We helped bake thumbprint cookies and I made a carrot cake all by myself ^_^ We frosted it with cream cheese frosting, and it's damned good, if I do say so myself.
It was so nice being around a family that's normal and not dysfunctional like my family. Linda's brother, aunt, uncle, mom, were there, and it was so much fun. I was a klutz and spilled my Monster and Linda's brother fell over in his chair while sitting on it (we still don't know how it happened, but it was teh funny). Lots of her yelling at her diabetic mom who kept trying to sneak off with sugary sweets. Lots of her uncle yelling for more beer, and her nice quiet aunt who helped us with the cookies. Her mom was adorably fluttery and giggly.
We got sent off with an asston of food, turkey with mushroom gravy, honey-glazed ham, stuffing, asparagus, green beans, all sorts of potatoes, mac and cheese, candied yams, cranberry chutney, 2 boxes of cookies, pumpkin rolls, carrot bread...etc. It took 8 takeout boxes to hold all the food. Sis and I took it home and happily ate ourselves into oblivion.
Then an hour later my mom started yelling at me and telling me how useless I was.
...
Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

This is the state of my sister and my relationship right now. We've gotten to the point where she's suspicious of every errand I send her on, and I'm constantly on the alert, jumping at any slight movement, for fear of retaliation.

So I had this diabolical plan. I was going to scare my sister. I got her to go into the garage to get my knitting bag out of my car. I powdered my feet and put socks on so I wouldn't make a sound, and I hid in the bathroom so I could follow her quietly until she went into the garage. Then, as the plan goes, I would sneak up behind her in the dark garage, and scare the shit out of her.
It didn't quite go that way. I snorted with laughter as she was opening the garage door.
She's still laughing at ME.
Sigh.

The patient presented with life-threatening injuries, a side laceration that almost disemboweled him. Luckily, after an anastomosis, he'll survive. Unfortunately, he'll suffer from permanent scarring from the sutures.

I dreamt I was in microbio lab and was about to inoculate a TSA plate with bacteria. I opened up the supposedly sterile plate with a loopful of bacteria from my nutrient broth and was about to streak the agar when I saw that the agar had fuzzy grayish brown colonies growing on it because the person who made the TSA OBVIOUSLY didn't use aseptic technique correctly and so I was pissed off because I had to resterilize everything and start over. Rawr!

All I dream about these days is school. This month alone, I've had at least 2 nightmares involving math/engineering class, the plot is always the same; I'm either missing a final or forgot about the class and didn't attend lecture all semester, or unprepared for a final.
The second type of school dream, of which I've had about 5 this month, is about organic chemistry class. Again, I dream about failing the final, or being in lab, or having a prof that I hated, or just being completely confused in class (real life scenatio, all of them).
The third type of dream is just being in class, listening to lecture...mundane things like that. For example, last night I dreamt I was in my microbiology lab, looking at fungi under a microscope.
Yep. Exciting.

So uh...since my last post I have:
- Called Joseph and left him a voicemail of me singing "PUH-PUH-PUH POKER FACE PUH PUH POKER FACE" (he hates that song)
- Called Joseph and sang "NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP, NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN." Then hung up on him.
(I'm surprised he hasn't broken up with me yet)
- Hopped around the my house on 1 feet, chasing my sister, and pretending not to have any arms, screaming "WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? BLEED ON ME?"
- Snuck up on my sister and yelled "NI!"
- Became a drug dealer. Class III controlled substance for a bag of cherries. Good deal.
- Locked my keys in my car while parked in Joseph's driveway
- Knitted the same length of yarn about 10 times because I keep making mistakes
- Encountered 3 students in my microbiology class who have contracted swine flu (seriously). The last one fell ill today and I'm praying I don't get sick

By the time I finish my microbiology class, I'm going to be a supreme germophobe. Doing research on staphylococcus...etc, and looking at the pics. Holy shit. HOLY SHIT. I'm probably never going to eat anything raw again.
Although the thought of eating a hot mango or apple isn't too terribly appealing.

But geez, I'm just like...D: at the pics. I don't think I'll ever eat sushi or steak again. Or meat for all that matters. Eh, won't be too hard. I've barely eaten a piece of meat the past 2 years. Geez, this class is bad D: I work with stuff that CAUSES these things on a daily basis. I'm so paranoid now.
Oh, and unknown bacteria staining and classification is a BITCH. If I could get my hand around my unknown, I'd strangle the damn thing.
And I think I want this in the petri dish. OMG SO CUTE. But so deadly. AND GROSS D:

Went grocery shopping. In and out in 5 minutes. When I came back out, my engine wouldn't start. I had tons of guys try and help me restart my engine. Some went home and came back with a mechanic's kit and measuring devices to try and diagnose and fix the problem. Nothing worked.
Got home at 11:30. So tired. Car had to be towed home. Bleeeeeeeh.

Sis and I had an argument. We were discussing nasty foods that we like/liked, and pizza rolls came up. I remember eating massive amounts of the stuff as a child, Totino's Pizza Rolls, and they come in yellow boxes. My sister remembers them too but she swears they weren't Totinos, and that they came in red boxes. Help us prove who's crazy, cause I swear to god they were Totino's.
